Art is the cultural deposits of mankind and a reflection of inspirations; Art is an expression of emotions and a quest for self-realization. From the musical notes spring the inner melody; from the colors of a painting triggars the memory of the shore beyond that we call home. It turns out that what touches us most is not the splendid appearance, but a sense of familiarity that has been there for a long time.

Easter: A Holy Celebration of Life

Easter is a time to remember and express our heartfelt gratitude to Lord Jesus Christ, who selflessly showed the way to eternal life. God made you and God made me, He made the world for us to see. God loves you and long ago, He sent his Son to tell us so. Jesus showed us many things, To love and share and dance and sing. To learn and pray, to help and care, He promised he’d always be there. He died but then came back to life, let’s celebrate for he’s alive! Amen.

Traditonal Musical Instrument: Enchanting Mandolin, Part 1 of 2

Although there are many variations, the mandolin generally has a hollow wooden body that includes a soundboard with a teardrop shape. Today, the mandolin plays a vital role in both orchestral and bluegrass music. As Mr. Nigel Woodhouse, a professional mandolinist who has played with many world-renowned orchestras and ensembles, explains: “… the mandolin has two of each string; they’re close pairs intended to be played as one string. It’s the doubling of the strings which gives the mandolin its particular resonance and sustain.”

Through pure notes, harmonious chords, different tempos and rhythms, composers fill our imagination and emotions with their music. One such composer was Ludwig van Beethoven. He was born in Germany in 1770 and lived until 1827. In his early 20s, he moved to Vienna, where he studied with other gifted musicians Franz Joseph Haydn, Johann Georg Albrechtsberger, and Antonio Salieri. From this point on, he was recognized as a virtuoso of the piano.

The instruments’ sounds are inspired from higher realms within. Artists are often viewed as half-saints, because they bring celestial music to this Earth for us to enjoy. Piano music has its beginnings in the Baroque period between 1600 and 1750. Baroque music is characterized by an energetic rhythm. One of the most important composers of the Baroque period is Bach. The mid 18-century heralded the Classical Period, piano music of this time focused on the exploration of the major-minor system. Among the most loved classical composers of this period was Mozart.

In Celebration of International Artist Day, Reminiscing the Old Times, Part 3 of 3

All true artists are love incarnate. They are here to give life, plenty of sun-shining smiles on countless faces and hearts. We must love them. We must honor them. Whatever we can so-called help them, it’s just to contribute to show gratitude to what they offer to our world. Because what they offer is more than material value. We cannot buy their art. Actually, we cannot pay anything that the artistic do during their out-of-this-world inspiration. I myself, if there is a company I’ll be glad to be with all the time, it shall be the genuine, kind, talented artists and their art lovers.

In December 2010, during the COP16 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Cancún, Mexico, a special artistic event was held. “The Greenest Heroes Gala” celebrated champions of the environment in halting global warming through the vegan way. As the event was organized in a short time, the guest stars didn’t have much time to make arrangements but stopped everything for the noble cause of saving the planet. Deeply touched by their enthusiastic support, Supreme Master Ching Hai spontaneously invited them to a cordial vegan brunch just hours before the gala.

A Tribute to Creative Souls: 2nd International Artist Day, Part 2 of 2

Art is something from God, or art is something from humans. Artists are those who can give that, who totally give in to that. Therefore, these artists are a very important group of people. They should be recognized, I think. It is something great, that these is such an opportunity, such a recognition. When I heard that Supreme Master Ching Hai had created International Artist Day, I thought it was such a brilliant idea. It's clearly a huge step in the right direction for creating a more creative world.

In Celebration of International Artist Day, Reminiscing the Old Times, Part 1 of 3

Then I came up with the idea, a while ago, before the day we announced the “International Artist Day,” I finally figured it out: “Ah! Or we make a day to glorify them.” This International Artist Day, I hope the whole world will accept it. The whole world should commemorate it as big as other holidays. To glorify the artists, so that the departed artists’ souls would be peaceful in the other world. And the living artists - even though they are facing hardships while bringing happiness to the world - would feel satisfied and happy somewhat.

Insights from the Akashic Record, Part 2 of 2

“The Akashic records are in the causal body (karana deha). The causal body is around your physical body somewhere around eight feet (and it can be bigger or smaller, developed or underdeveloped depending on how evolved you are). How does a clairvoyant see the causal body? If the causal body is well developed in the sense that it is well illuminated, there are no black patches, then the person is evolved … then that person is considered to be an enlightened, ascended Master…All the akashas need to be cleaned so that the records get deleted. When your files are deleted completely it is called ascension. This is the right understanding of ascension and Akashic records…”

Reflective Korean Buddhist Melodies

Buddhism has been a part of Korean culture for over 2,000 years and its deep influence is evident in Korea’s magnificent temples, paintings, literature, statues of great Buddha and Bodhisattvas, and non-violent vegan temple food. In addition, Buddhism has enriched the songs and instrumental music of Korea. Buddhist prayer chants have long been played as offerings at traditional sacred ceremonies. Buddha’s enlightened teachings such as detachment, letting go and compassion have also inspired many modern-day musicians. On today’s program, we’re excited to present three contemporary Buddhist songs. The first is “When the Wind Comes”. Our next pieces are “ An Amazing Lotus Flower”, “The Waiting Heart”.

The current term “Kuilei” in Taiwan (Formosa) refers to marionettes controlled by strings. In southern Fujian and Taiwan (Formosa), we call this art form “Jiali theatre.” In ancient times, marionette theatre was a performance art in royal Chinese courts. This kind of performance could only be watched by emperors or foreign guests in royal courts. Later, it became popular among the common people. After this happened, people performed marionette theater to thank the gods. Performing marionette theatre for the gods or for the Jade Emperor was considered the most respectful of rituals.

Living a Balanced Life: The Spiritual Qom People of Argentina

The Qom believe that the Creator is the Ultimate Giver, and that all of creation has invisible spiritual beings as caretakers. Each “vital space,” that is, each forest, swamp, river, and grassland-and each animal, fruit, or plant to be harvested - has a spiritual guardian. On the land(Gran Chaco), there is a spirit that takes care of the land, takes care of the animals, lives in the water and takes care. To the Qom people, life depends on maintaining a balance and peaceful harmony with all the created world, including with the spiritual guardians.
